WELL. Where do I start? This was a gargantuan project that I wanted to do to fill up the 8 weeks of summer holidays that were predominantly taken up by humid, hot days or rainy ones. I've seen a couple of pieces of art similar to this around DeviantArt, and decided to have a crack at it.

You have no idea how difficult this was to do. o_o

Firstly it was tough finding the right shoes. I've seen a lot of custom Vans on the net, so that's what I first had in mind, but when I decided that was going to be WAY too expensive (and hell, I can't even FIND the popular checkered ones, so it would have been extraordinarily hard to find white ones) so I went down to Target and bought these for a grand total of $16.50. That saved me around $90. xD I drew the design up on paper. It took a whole three days up at the beach. Sigh.

Nevertheless, I arduously trekked down to the local art stores and found some pens. Three, in total. Two .005s and one .01. The thinnest around. Also the most difficult to find, and the most expensive.

Then I very very...VERY...roughly traced design onto the shoes. What I didn't take into consideration was the fact that the design on paper was bigger than how much room I had on to shoe, and that it would be a million times harder to draw on canvas than on paper.

Anyway, I sat down and watched the Shawshank Redemption and drew about ten lines and mum walks in and tells me that I'm not allowed to wear these shoes.

It's like they're holy.

Anywayyyy after both her (and dad at this stage) have taken my shoes hostage, I finally relent and make an EXACT copy of these shoes AGAIN. Why? Because they reckon I'll look back at these when I'm 100 and remember when I was 15 and did them and be happy they were saved. Quite frankly, I wanted to wear them.

Anywayyyy around three weeks later, this pair was finished and I started ANOTHER pair with the same process. Not a week after that, my friend convinces me to make her a pair. But no, not like these. She wants My Chemical Romance ones...which I agree to, and decide to make myself a pair while I'm at it. Yes, because I like that band. Shutup. |:

So, on these shoes, I have what looks like a drug trip: on the right shoe, I have a giant clock, a kite in the stars, an antique TV that's yelling 'FREAK OUT' and a skull wearing headphones on the outside and a sun with dominoes for rays, a cute godzilla with a big heart over it and a few helicopters thrown in for good measure, and a piano that's sprouting vines in the inner part of the shoe.

The left shoe, quite similarly is an eclectic mash of a city, some kind of earth-looking thing with wings, a rocket (which I ADORE) which is leading to a giant octopus that's floating in the sky and is saying random thins like 'okay!' 'rawr! (cliche eh) and a peace symbol. Trippy indeed.

The tongues have my brand on it where most shoe companies have their brand (I called mine Fish Story) and lyrics from mychem, yellowcard, green day and matchbook romance, simply because they were the songs that came up first on my ipod and I couldn't give a rat's arse or a cat's toss about picking songs that matched my shoes. It's not like it's legible, anyway.

The other little bits on the shoes have checkers, a few stars and my name, which can be severely misread.

Getting onto the details of these photos, the detail, while not too shabby, is clearer in real life. My brother's digital camera promised that it was on macro shot, but clearly, when you look at the picture of the back of the heels, it lied.

So, that's it! Expect soon a pair of My Chemical Romance shoes to pop up on watch lists, because they're very nearly done. The Three Cheers shoes are done, I just need to do the Black Parade ones. I just need to find some logo or picture reminiscent of the BP album that's under an inch and a half and easy to draw, because without that, I'm buggered.

Some other friend of a friend wanted me to make ANOTHER pair of mychem shoes. I think I'll have to start charging x_X
